This sad little tale began on July first. I had the day off from work since it was a national holiday. I woke in the afternoon after a great night of relaxing with my Transformers Generation 1 dvd that I had recently purchased at the local HMV. Cheeful and ready to greet the day I decided to hop in the shower. Slipping out of my pj's I hopped in the tub, pulled the curtain closed, and turned on the water. To my surprise, the cold water came on, but the hot water hadn't. So, frowing at the loss of my nice warm shower, I jumped out and redressed, pulling my hair back into a pony tail so that I could go investigate this issue. I live in an apartment building and the first month I had moved in we had our hot water down for repairs. Remembering that a notice was placed under my door in the past I expected a notice to be waiting for me just as it had before.
There was no notice.
Thinking that perhaps this was an unexpected event I gave my resident manager the benefit of the doubt. I shrugged my shoulders and continued on with my day. The next morning, there was still no hot water. I called the manager and asked why the hot water was down in my building. She rambled some pathetic excuse and said that it would be fixed as soon as possible. So, not wanting to pick a fight, I accepted this and went along my business. Well, 7 days passed and still no hot water. I called my manager again, and got a hold of someone I had never spoken to before. I didn't know this person. Pretty niffed that I had yet to recieve a notice I asked this person when are we getting our hot water back.
The man on the phone proceeded to chew me out. Telling me that I had no right to speak to them in this manner when they were doing everything they can to get the situation fixed. I then told him in return, that I had not recieved a single word from anyone on the issue, I was being ignored and this was now 8 days that I have gone without hot water and it was rediculous that nobody took five minutes to explain to me what was going on. I then told him I was sorry for sounding irritated, but I had the right to be since I had to take 2 cold showers and that nobody seemed to want to give me an answer as to why this hadn't been fixed. He said that he had no idea this was going on, then took my name and address and said someone would be by later that day. Well I had to go to work and so I had to leave my appartment. There was no notice on my door when I got back. I had been brushed off. I had no idea if this was a building problem or just mine. Nobody was telling me ANYTHING!
So on the 9th day, I called the land lord tenant act and asked their advice. They refered me to the health inspector since the lack of hot water was a sanitary issue. They then filed my formal complaint and contacted my land lord. I had to go to work, and recieved a call from the inspector a few hours later saying that my land lord would contact me. He then called only minutes after. I called him back, during work hours. He said the problem was as simple as a valve that had been turned off above my door when they were repairing the building's hot water days ago. The repair guy had broken something above my door and forgot to fix the pipe to my suite. They would need access to my suite to do it. I told the man that he could have free run of my place in the morning if it meant that I could have my hot water back. He then, sheepishly, informed me that since they considered it an emergency situation that they had actually attempted to enter my suite......and broke the key off in the lock while doing it.
Well...I stood there, in the break room of the pharmacy I work at, completely stunned. He then rambled on that the key to my new lock was waiting for me and that I would have to pick it up. I, holding down a shriek of rage, told him I did not have a car, and I wasn't going to get home until 10 that night. But being so helpful, he said that he would come to my suite and let me in when I got home. All I had to do was call when I got there.
Biting my lip so hard it was about to bleed, I calmly reminded him it would not be until 10 and I was NOT going to deal with this when I just got home and wanted a god damned shower. I told him to bring me my key NOW. At work. He agreed to and I gave him the adress.
Two hours or so later, he brought me my new key. I went home to a hot shower. However, I am still livid at the bull shit these people put me through for 9 days. So I shall end my little tale of woe with this:
FUCK YOU BOARDWALK!!!! FUCK YOU IN THE ASS!! YOU GO TO HELL!!! YOU GO TO HELL AND YOU DIE!!!!!
Ahem.... The end.
